Getting to Montego Bay
| |
- We recommend that from all points, you should fly into Montego Bay.
- Non-stop flights are available from NYC to Montego Bay , Jamaica, and should take just under 4 hours from NYC. Let Jon and Jennie know if anyone would like to crash in NYC at either end of the trip if you're coming from afar. We're going to be in Jamaica a bit before and after, however we can find you accommodations, and of course NYC is THE BEST city in the world and catching a show, hitting a museum, and grabbing a bite at a world class restaurant is a must.
|
Passports
| |
- We'd recommend making sure your passport is up to date now as it's required to enter Jamaica.
|
Customs
| |
Immigration cards are given to visitors at the airport arrivals desks. Hold on to yours because you will need to surrender the document to Jamaican Customs when you leave the country. |
Currency
| |
Don't bother changing your US dollars. US$$ is accepted in most places. |
Getting to/from Ritz-Carlton
| |
Once you've cleared customs at the airport, ask the attendant where the Ritz-Carlton welcome lounge is at the airport. They will check you in there, and also take you to the hotel. Cost is $35 each way per room and well worth it. They'll automatically book your return transfer. When you arrive at the hotel, have some $$ for the porter. |
What to pack (the eternal question):
| |
Jon and I are very casual people, and the wedding will reflect our easygoing style. No tuxes, etc… wear clothing that is festive and that you'll be comfortable in during warmer weather. The Ritz-Carlton has some pretty spectacular dining experiences, and there's something for everyone. They have something called “resort elegant attire” (not suit and tie). On the other hand, you could decide to spend your time between the beach, tennis court, spa, and golf course. Jennie Hei's guide to packing includes multiple shoe options, sandals, SUN BLOCK!!!!, bathing suit, one sporty outfit, 1 nice outfit, and the rest loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. |
